About Dr. Mangala Wani
Dr. Mangala Wani is Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Lactation Consultant. Recently she is being more busy as a lactation consultant . She works with women globally to help them reach their breastfeeding goals!
She is the leading and senior lactation consultant in Pune and director of ‘Hirkani Gynaecology & Breastfeeding medicine clinic, Pune, India.She is the first one to start specialized lactation clinic in India.She is extraordinary person and compassionate. Deep knowledge & clinical skills has made her extremely popular in the society.Many doctor moms are her clients for lactation management.
Being a medical profession, that too being a gynaecologist has an added advantage for her to guide and manage a mother for breastfeeding issues such as breast abscess where she aspirates it immediately in clinic or to induce the lactation in a mother who has received a baby via surrogacy where she can prescibe different medications , just the few examples.After she delievers a baby, she helps mom to initiate breastfeeding within one hour even after caesarean section and encourages skin to skin contact. Mothers find this experience just amazing.

- She is conducting antenatal classes regularly, direct as well as online.
- She has organised “Lactacon” conference in consecutive 4 years in Pune with attendace of more than 400 doctors each time.She is very thankful to Pune ObGY society ( POGS) for giving her this opportunity.
- She has been invited in many conferences & webinars to deliver a speech.
- She was a co-ordinator for online breastfeeding course for gynaecologists organized by ICOG-FOGSI in 2020.
- Dr Mangala wani has had her articles published in many journals, magazines and newspapers. She has been interviewed for few TV show and various online radio shows.
- She was a course diector for IBCLC training in 2009 on behalf of BPNI mah and she is very passionate about teaching and she is very popular among her students.
- In 2020, she has taken over as a course director for online IBCLC training and 40 participants are getting benefitted from it.
- She was ‘Clinical Secretary’, POGS in 2018-19 and ‘Treasurer-MSR, Maharashtra Chapter ISAR in 2014-2016.
- Dr. Mangala Wani has been awarded ‘INDIAN ACHIEVER’S AWARD FOR CHIKITSAK RATAN’ by Global Society for health & Education Growth, New Delhi in 2011, ‘Young Scientist Award’ at the 5th World Congress on Endometriosis, Yokohama, Japan in 1996, ‘BEST DEBEUTANT AWARD’ by Pune Obstetrics and gynaecological Society in 2010-11 and “Dhanwantary Award” in 2018, by Apulki Sanstha, Pune, in appreciation for conducting Public Awareness Programmes and colossus work in the area of breastfeeding and lactation.
